Ministries
St. Mark's has a broad range of ministries for people of all ages and
situations. We believe that we have a responsibility to put love into
action, and to follow Jesus' example of caring for people both within
our own community and beyond.

Lots of excitement is generated each summer through St. Marks' Vacation

community took part in our "Great Bible Reef" VBS which ran
from August 20-24th. High energy learning and fun for kids of all ages!
We hope your family can join us during the 2007/08 church year!

STUDY GUIDE - Planet In Peril: Stewardship of Creation
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada is making the "greening
of the church" a priority for our life together. In connection with
this timely and important endeavour, Harold Remus and Jana Kelly (both
of St.Mark's) have produced a terrific study-document called Planet in
Peril: God's Earth, God's People.
This is a great guide which groups can use to begin to explore how our
faith connects to our stewardship of Creation.
Stephen Ministry
St.
Mark's has an active Stephen Ministry program, which provides one-to-one
support to people going through difficult times. Contact Helen
Weber (885-6094) for more information on this ministry. Also see the
Stephen Ministries web
site to learn more what's involved in becoming a Stephen Minister.
Community Ministry
Through
Community Ministry, we reach out to the broader community beyond our own
doors. We have placed a special emphasis on supporting and caring for
the marginalized and disadvantaged members of our society.
One
main focus of Community Ministry at St. Mark's is the Wednesday night
potluck suppers that take place every week. Since 1997, people have been
gathering together on Wednesday evening at 5:45 to share a meal together
and to enjoy each other's company. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come
and eat together, whether or not they have food to bring.
In celebration of 10 years of Community Suppers at St. Mark's,
a book has been published called "See
You Next Week", which is a compilation of many heartfelt stories
from both those who have helped and been helped by Community Ministry.
As the back cover mentions, "This is a remarkable glimpse of what
the church can be when it engages in real acts of inclusive community."
The book release is October 24, 2007 and copies can be purchased for $12.
Community Ministry also has a Single Mothers Group and a Good Food Box
program. The Community Ministry programs are organized jointly with Calvary
Memorial United Church in Kitchener.
Evangelical Lutheran Women (ELW)
"ELW
is a Christ centered Community of women committed to nurturing our faith and
spiritual strength, enabling us to be people of God in mission."
At St. Mark's we have an active ELW which meets the third Tuesday of each
month. Women of all ages are cordially invited. We have Bible studies,
Guest Speakers, Meditations and Fellowship. In December we have a lovely
Christmas Dinner and program as well as a "Daughters of St. Marks"
Celebration around Mother's Day. We contribute through ELW to a number
of charities involving women as well as donating time and offerings to
the work of the church as a whole.
